I am receving several emails from people who download the update file and
then don't know what
to do with it, so here are some basic instructions.
i) The file is in zip format, so needs to be unzipped.
ii) I recommend Winzip 7 for this. Search for it here.
iii) The update will not work with version 3.02 of cm3. To upgrade your
version get the full version patch from here.
Firstly, locate the file update.zip on your hard drive.
This will be wherever you saved it to.
If you have Winzip
installed on your PC the icon will look like the one above. If you have
a different extraction programme then it will probably
look different. Click on the file with
the right mouse button and you will see a context menu
appear as shown below.
The option you should click on is 'Extract to...' This
will load up WinZip and present you
with the screen below.
Here is where you select which folder to copy all the
files to. In the
Folders/Drives:
window you need to select the Data folder as shown above.
By default the path
for this is C:\Program Files\Championship Manager 3\Data.
You can click on the + sign to the left of each folder
to open them up. Once you've
selected Data you need to click on Extract and the necessary
files will be copied
to your system. You will see some messages regarding
whether you are sure
that you want to overwrite certain files. You must click
on Yes for the update
to take effect. Once it has completed, close down Winzip
and then start a
'New Game' of Championship Manager 3
